🏆 2024 BIBA® Inspirational Memoir Winner!

Some stories are nearly too impossible sounding to believe. Some of those stories, while amazing and unbelievable, are absolutely true. This is one of those stories.

Have you ever thought life was more than you could take? Ever felt that you simply could not come back from something that happened to you? You may think that you are alone in this, but you are not. I spent years of my life without a single other soul to speak to, but in the darkest of times, you are capable of becoming your own army of support.

This story is my story, I grew up mostly alone. I lacked friends, close family and lost my dearest pet. My life was loneliness and heartbreak. That led to addiction for me. Alcohol and primarily food addiction. By the time I was an adult, I weighed in at over 700 pounds. My life would be short and pointless, and nobody would remember my name. That was my mindset. Struggling to breathe, struggling to walk, to stay sober, to function as a basic human being. I cannot imagine being any closer to the abyss. Few people ever go that far and get a chance to turn back.

I wasn’t given a chance, but I certainly made my own. Through my own ingenuity and determination, I began to build the life I wanted. I began to learn to live. This is my story, what it took to rebuild a lost cause and lose nearly 500 pounds, without weight loss surgery or therapy or doctors, or friends to help push me along.

From how I got that way, what I felt, what I did, and how I changed it all. Every deeply personal story and course changing interaction along the way. What I learned, what I lost, the price that must be paid to do the impossible. I don’t claim to have all of the answers. However, I am quite certain that if you are looking for your own answers, you will find something to inspire, relate to, or be entertained by my journey.
