This first novel begins when this individual is eight years old and meets John, the Beloved Disciple of the Lord Jesus. It follows him through baptism, events which happened to John, and Polycarp’s ordination as first a deacon, then a presbyter, then the bishop of the Ecclesia in Smyrna, Asia Minor.
